Privacy
WAMO Inspector is a local Windows application. Personal data is not used for advertising, tracking, or profiling.
1. Controller
The responsible person for this website and the software distribution is Jost Jahn, Amrum Software. Contact: wamo@jostjahn.de.
2. Hosting and server logs
When the website or download files are accessed, the hosting provider processes technically required server log data. This may include IP address, date and time, requested file, transferred bytes, referrer, browser type, operating system, and HTTP status.
The purpose is secure delivery, error analysis, and abuse prevention. The legal basis is legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website itself does not set tracking cookies.
3. Downloads and update checks
Downloading the installer or portable package creates a normal web server request. The application checks the public version file once per day. No user account, serial number, or observation file is transmitted for this check.
If a newer version has been available for at least 60 days, the application stops operation and points to the download page. This protects the correctness of the discovery logic and keeps installations current.
4. Local application data
Settings, window layouts, histories, logs, reports, backward-audit state files, and optional cache files are stored locally. The WAMO cache can be declined, disabled, and deleted. SQLite WAL is never used.
5. External astronomy requests from the app
After user action, the application may request MPC/MPEC pages, WAMO checks at the Minor Planet Center, and optional SBX pages. The required object identifiers, MPEC references, or OBS80 lines are transmitted for that astronomy request.
6. Contact
If you contact us by email, your message and contact details are processed to answer the request.
7. Cookies, analytics, and advertising
This website uses no analytics tools, no advertising networks, and no first-party tracking cookies. External links load only when clicked.
8. Recipients and third-country transfers
Recipients may include the website hosting provider and the external astronomy services you deliberately call. Their own privacy information applies.
9. Your rights
Subject to GDPR requirements, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. You may also complain to a data protection authority, for example datenschutzzentrum.de.
